A BIG THANK YOU  to everyone out there who has donated to our cause with your time, effort, adoptions, fostering and monetary donations, to aid in our effort to help the dozens of pets we have re-homed and cared for this year of 2011.

As we look forward to 2012, our goal is to continue assisting every dog, cat, and small pet  with getting care and a new forever family.

LET'S JUST ALL GET ALONG TOGETHER- BIG OR SMALL, BLACK, WHITE, TAN OR GREY!!!

A Humane Society of Central Florida Pet Rescue Inc  is a non-profit. We are 100% volunteer-based, which means overhead costs are minimal and your donation is put to direct use for the good of the dogs. We do not receive government funds. We are entirely supported by charitable donations.

We have recently joined forces with a local group of “Doberman Pinscher” breed rescuers Crystal River. The name of the group is Dobie Ranch Rescue at www.DobieRanchRescue.com a division of A Humane Society of Central Florida Pet Rescue Inc, and is presided over by a fellow dog lover Diane DeSantis. We have joined forces to unite in the rescue of unwanted, abused, discarded dogs in need of new homes and now in PARTICULAR, Doberman Pinschers. Please, welcome Dobie Ranch Rescue into your hearts and minds.

If you know of someone who wants to adopt or has a need to give up a furry family member, contact us AHSCFPRInc. 352-527-9050 or DRR 352-563-1253. We are
there to help.

Schultz Vaccine Seminar:

Highlights of a Vaccine Seminar held in Connecticut featured Dr. Ron Schultz (DVM. PhD), who is a Professor and Department Chair of the Dept. of Pathobiological Sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Schultz is a leading pioneer in veterinary immunology, and has been hard at work studying vaccines and their effects and effectiveness for over forty years. He has done research for very major vaccine makers, as well as for various other institutions… Dr. Schultz in no way suggests that we should not vaccinate our dogs! Understand your options, and discuss them with your vet BEFORE you agree to ANY vaccinations. NEVER allow yourself to be talked into ANY medical treatment or procedure you don't understand or are not comfortable with. It is your responsibility to be an advocate for your pet! If your vet will not work with you on ANY important issue, you need to find one who will. Bear in mind, that the first duty of a medical professional is to DO NO HARM.
Rather than merely dwelling on the risks of vaccinations, which are relatively small in the general population, Dr. Schultz suggests that it is paramount that we "Don't do what is not needed, "Everything we do has an effect down the road that we can't always anticipate, so it makes more sense to proceed cautiously. In light of all the cancers and auto-immune problems we are seeing in people as well as pets, we can't afford to keep going about vaccination as naively as we have in the past. …

Q: What is Foster Care?

A: The ability to place animals into foster care helps animals have a second chance at finding a lifetime home.
Our foster care volunteers provide short-term housing for:
  Small dogs
  Doberman Pinchers
  Birds
  Small reptiles
  Fish

The more foster parents we have, the more animals we can help!

Q: How long will I foster an animal?

A: Every case is different. Foster care can take anywhere from 1 week to 2 months.

Q: If I spend time fostering an animal, will it find a home?

A: Of all foster care animals, 100% of ours are placed into new homes. We understand the bond can be formed between you and your foster animal so we will do everything we can to make sure that your foster animal gets placed into a loving home. Foster parents are also encouraged to help find their foster animals a home.

If you are interested in fostering for us, please go to our website for an application form:

We would love to have any of you who are part time residents to our area think about volunteering to foster a pet while you are here in Citrus County.
It’s such a great feeling to foster and adopt a nice animal to a good home. Working with this kind of group, of other animal lovers, enriches the lives of many people considering volunteer work. Those whom enjoy being around animals and caring people, interviewing those who want to adopt an animal, transporting animals for their vet appointment, or to the groomer.  The paperwork is very minimal and easy to fill out. The best thing is that it can be as involving as one likes, or limited to the time one wishes to devote.

All of the financial donations made to AHSCFPRI go directly back to help the next group of animals. The donations will help to spay / neuter, vaccinate, test for heartworm, feline leukemia, feline aids, worm, and heartworm, or any special medical care etc, needed prior to adopting out the cats and dogs that need a forever home.
